Horoscope for Barak Obama
The sign of Leo is the hallmark for leadership so with Mercury, Sun, Black Moon, Uranus and the North Node all in Leo the qualities of charisma, magnetism, motivation and creativity are abundant. The Sun is in the 6th house of “service” and bestows analytical and organisational skills and diminishes the more egoic qualities of Leo into humility not often present in this sign. The fact that his Sun is in a service position rather than in an elevated placement in the horoscope assures us that he is not after fame and aggrandisement as he takes office, but rather a deep conviction that his purpose is to be useful to the extent of his abilities.
Mercury also in Leo in the 6th, enhances the mental analytical gifts and with a tight opposition to Jupiter in Aquarius uplifts the mental ability into a broad visionary philosopher inspired by the values of a shared collective humanity. Jupiter is the Esoteric ruler of Aquarius (2nd Ray Love Wisdom) and as January 2009 opens Mr. Obama experiences a return of Jupiter to its’ natal position… a once in 12 year ‘moment’. Jupiter in Aquarius also tells us that he is a team player and will surround himself with visionary thinkers and ideas people.
By Inauguration Day Jupiter in Aquarius is in a splendid Trine (or positive ease aspect) to his Moon in Gemini, so we can expect an eloquent speech incorporating themes of a humanitarian nature and some of his many ideas toward the necessary changes he is about to implement. His Moon in Gemini also bestows mental and oratory gifts of a very spontaneous and fluid nature, and as it falls in the 4th house of home/family he speaks from a deep well of feeling born of the early struggles for security experienced via the Square or hard challenging aspect to Pluto in Virgo in the 7th house of relationships. Through this aspect we see the story of painful stages of change and movement in his early life and his deep connection to the significant women in his life… namely, his Mum, Grandma and wife Michelle. He identifies easily with women and the nature of the “feminine process”. Thus he is a very “yang” man with strong fire and aspiration, but equally a very “yin” man in touch with his and other people’s feelings.
This theme also echoes in his Venus in Cancer in the 5th house of children. Obviously his kids mean the world to him, and he retains a strong relationship with his own “inner child” who he calls upon as a source of internal nurture and motivation. Venus is in Trine (easy aspect) to Neptune in Scorpio in the 9th house of philosophies and beliefs, bestowing a potent idealism and sensitivity to the right of all people to believe in their own philosophies. Venus and Neptune are also in Trine to Chiron in Pisces in his first house. This creates a Grand Trine in Water signs and offers us the insight of his identification with the “collective wound” we all share; namely that humanity is out of touch with our Spiritual centre and that this is the true shift that must occur in the years to come.
With three planets and 3 ‘points’ in the 7th house of relationship this is obviously worthy of discussion. The 7th is naturally ruled by Libra, the sign of diplomacy, arbitration and peaceful co-operation. Interesting that activator Mars here says that he will assert himself when and if necessary, and also tells us that he will attract anger, confrontation and derision at times. As Mars is in organisational Virgo he will be a great initiator of systems and models for practical implementation of new forms.
During 2008 and in 2009 Uranus in transit opposes his Mars and we can already see that he must have had to really step up his energy in brand new ways just to have pulled off the Presidency! So now it is on with the Leo show… yes he is a showman as the past 3 US Presidents have also been Leos. The difference this time that his Aquarian traits take him beyond the personal and into a higher order.
