"This concept of collective images and themes also illustrates the reality of Astrology as a multi-layered "language", in much the same way as the Egyptian Hieroglyphics conveyed layers of meaning to the initiated which were not available to the layman. In other words Astrology offers a rich harvest of information and meaning at whatever stage of study you care to investigate.

So, using these two models in conjunction with one another we have the basis of the course I have formed to present to you. I will attempt to integrate many aspects of my work and study over my 19 years of my experience in this field, and central to this integration is a belief, which is shared by many "Humanistic Astrologers", that until we acknowledge and integrate the 4 main aspects of our humanity - i.e.

Our Physicality - our body,
Our Emotionality - our feelings,
Our Psychology - our behaviours
Our Spirituality - our belief systems

We are not fully equipped to take action in the world around us with complete honesty, creativity, integrity and power .

The rise of modern Astro-Psychology has been a rapid and dynamic affair (relative to the long history up until now). Our world view has changed irrevocably since the revolution of the early 1960s when the youth generation began to say "no" to the old style world view which uses aggressive intervention as the solution to planetary problems. This then we could now describe broadly as the "unconscious" approach, as it out of touch with the reality that we live in a "natural' world, where the inter relationship between humanity and nature must be honored if we are to survive.

A generation later it would appear that we have not progressed far in changing this dilemma, but on a subtle level all over the world, and in the psyches of each individual a seed was planted which has been germinating during the 30 years since (a Saturn cycle!), which has given rise to the birth of a new Spiritual Movement, which is now about to take root on a collective level all around the planet. Now that Neptune has entered the sign of Aquarius in 1999 we should begin to see this occur over the next 14 years.

This movement has no specific judgmental God or Leader, but rather gives permission for people to believe in themselves as creative individuals, and their right to explore their own potential without fear of retribution. This is called "humanism" and acknowledges the interconnectedness of all things above and below. Thus we meet the difference between religion and Spirituality per se, as the organised religions of the past 2,000 years of the Piscean Age, have employed dogmas and rules to enforce their view of the nature of God upon their fellow humans. The true nature of Spirituality does not exploit or leave room for egoic issues which are based on human fears and limitations.

Astrology is a tool par excellence for this exploration of personal identity and purpose, and by the very nature of its most Spiritual roots, and its perfect application to this modern Spiritual purpose, offers us a new doorway in to our own Selves - and the irony is of course that it has always been there.

What has changed is that the Ancient Astrological Models were based around the belief that we are "fated", and that there is nothing we can do about our fate - i.e. you lie in the bed which you have made. The integration of the new psychological model changes this belief to one which implies that within that which comes into our lives, which we may call "Fate", we have the Conscious Free Will aspect which enables us to make choices about how we handle any person or event which presents itself to us. Ah! So this is how we may begin to have our personal power at last - we can make more conscious choices.

With the Astrological Map (Horoscope) as our diagnostic tool, we are able to ascertain those areas in ourselves and our lives which are unconsciously blocking our power to make the right choices. We are able to understand the origins of our belief systems which formed at conception, were substantiated at our birth, and then reinforced during our early ego formative years.

Once we have this understanding then we also have the power to change these belief systems - a long and sometimes painful process - but one which if committed to offers us the Gold of the old Alchemists - the Union of the Inner and Outer Self, which promises the fruit of life - Joy, Happiness and Honesty, derived from the true expression of who we really are!!."
